Kindy to Year 1 Transition
Your Kindy student will soon become a Year 1 student!
The FANS bilingual program evolves for students in Year 1, for both Anglophone and Francophone streams.
Francophone stream
Intensive French Before School (IFBS)
Compulsory
In addition to French instruction delivered during school hours, FANS provides Intensive French Before School (IFBS) classes to further strengthen students’ language learning.
Students in the Francophone stream attend compulsory IFBS classes from Years 1 to 6, with a focus on developing strong foundations in French grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.
Classes are held in your child’s regular classroom and are taught by their Teacher of French, ensuring continuity and consistency with the bilingual program.
Program Details
- When: Mondays and Thursdays during school terms
- Time: 8:00am – 8:45am. Drop-off from 7:50am - 8:00am
- Duration: 45 minutes per session (twice weekly)
- Location: Your child’s classroom
- Start date: Thursday 5 February 2026

- Automatic enrolment for 2026 (no additional registration required)
Anglophone stream
Intensive French Before School (IFBS)
Optional enrolment
Students in the Anglophone stream from Years 1 to 6 may choose to enrol in Intensive French Before School (IFBS), a weekly extension class designed to strengthen and deepen their French language skills.
Delivered in small groups, the program uses engaging and age-appropriate activities—including games, reading, music, and a dedicated exercise book—to build confidence in French grammar, vocabulary, and spelling.

- When: Wednesdays during school terms
- Time: 8:00am – 8:45am. Drop-off from 7:50am - 8:00am
- Duration: 45 minutes per week
- Start date: Wednesday 4 February 2026

Francophone stream
L'Etude French Homework Club
Optional enrolment
L’Étude French Homework Club is a weekly after-school support program for Francophone stream students, supervised by a FANS Teacher of French.
The club provides guided assistance with written French homework in a structured and supportive environment.
Students are placed into small groups of up to 15 students, organised by Stage, allowing for targeted support and individual attention. Etude classes take place at KHPS in a designated classroom.

- When: Mondays or Thursdays during school terms
- Time: 3:00pm – 4:00pm
- Duration: 1 hour per week
- Start date: Monday 9 February 2026
